This beautiful house was build in 2005 and comes with 8 akers of land. It´s placed in mid of south Iceland. It only takes 15 min. to drive to nearest town, Selfoss and 50 min. to Reykjavík or Thingvalla. Then its ideal to take the golden circle tour and drive to Gullfoss and Geysir. Unfortunately we had a computer crisis so we lost all our pictures of the house and its surroundings at summertime but we assure you that this place is wonderful in all seasons. General Information: Included in the rent: Bedsheets and towels. Hand soap and washing powder for dishwasher and washing machine. Salt and pepper and during harvesting season you have fresh herbs and salad from the garden. The house has 4 bedrooms where 7 adults can sleep. There is one King size, one Queen size and three singles beds (in one bedroom are two single beds that can be joint togeter to form King size bed). Baby bed can be provided. The kitchen has everything anyone can wish for, for example all modern electric devices and tableware for 8 people. The dining room is elegant with view to the volcanos Hekla, Eyjafjallajokull and Katla. The bathroom is spectacular but there we have shower, big massage bathtub and heated mirror. The living room is extremely bright and spacy with large leather sofa, TV, dvd and VHS. There you can also find a great collection of DVD and VHS movies. In the laundry room there is a washer and a dryer. In the garden there is a great porch and a BBQ. Right outside the garden is a chicken coop with one very proud roister and 6 ladys. Every morning you can go to the chicken coop to get fresh eggs for breakfast. On the land, only about 30 meters from the house are Icelandic horses that are very gentle and like to be petted. It could also be possible to go for short riding tour around the area, if people prefer to take longer tours there are horse rentals in the area. The English houses offer accommodation and dining in a relaxed atmosphere, by the banks of river Langa. Accommodation is also offered in a renovated conserved house. The history of these buildings is closely linked to English people of the past. Convenient location for sightseeing in the Snaefellsnes and Borgarfjordur area. The old fishing lodge has been remodelled and reconstructed through the years with the aim of restoring it in its original style. During the reconstruction special attention was paid to the history of the house. Tradition, cosiness and the fact that the lodge is run as a small family business are the things we want our guests to notice. The fishing lodge used to be the fisherman's home and during his fishing time he should feel comfortable. The same is now our goal for our guests. In the oldest part of the house there is a dining room, fly-tying corner, as well as the kitchen and storage rooms. On the second floor 3 bedrooms for 2 can be found with shared bathroom facilities. The lounge has been added to the oldest part and forms the West wing of the house whereas the East wing holds the main sleeping area of the house with 8 bedrooms for 2 persons, both with private and shared bathroom facilities. If your goal is to unwind and relax, then sitting by the fireplace in the lounge, sipping on Icelandic Brennivín or a good cup of coffee, is a good way to start. Dinner is prepared in the evening and is set up with a 2-3 course menu that is served that same evening, the meals are served at a long dining table in the dining room where guests enjoy their dinner together in an inviting and warm atmosphere. One of the oldest former fishing lodges in Iceland and was used only by fishermen in the summer, from 1884 until the year of 1998 when it was turned into a guesthouse by Ragnheiður Jóhannesdóttir, Stefán Ólafsson and their family.
