There are 12 newly remodelled apartments at Laxarbakki. You can rent them for short and long term lease. They have all the facilities a modern apartment has today. With every apartment there is a storage and a shared laundry room. Balcony faces North where you have a view over the river Laxá. Guesthouse: Laxarbakki also offers a guesthouse with 7 bedrooms. Rented out with made up beds or sleeping bag arrangement. Shared kitchen, living room and bathroom. Customers take full responsibility of property in the room such as furniture, kitchen equipment and other decorative during your stay. Customer has to pay for any damages which is caused by him or his guests. Customer is to report immediately if something brakes down or is destroyed. Customer shall treat the facilities and outdoor surroundings with respect and avoid making a mess. Customers have the option to rent towels, bed sheets, bed covers and sheets if necessary or bringing their own. Customer has the option on cleaning the room or buying this service. This has to be taken care of at deposit. If any of these rules are broken Laxárbakki reserves the option of charging their customers penalty fee. Cleaning fee may be 30.000 ISK or more and if the invoice is not paid within 30 days we reserve the option on taking legal action. One of the best Salmon river runs through our land, there are very good golf courses, swimming pools, hiking routes and many other outdoor activities. We bought the facilities from the slaughterhouse company and operated a cantine and also a flea market every weekend in the summer. Soon we expanded and built 12 "apartments" and provide service and information for tourists. Our goal is to preserve the history of Laxárbakki. The house was built in the years between 1951-53 as a slaughterhouse for the Icelandic Sheep. Before the house was built the sheep was driven to Reykjavik to the year 1931 and after that to Akranes.
